The Beijing-Datong train line is a very popular train route in China as Datong is a very interesting destination. There are no high-speed trains for this route. Also, most trains depart at rather inconvenient times.

Beijing to Datong trains

The best trains from Beijing leave late at night and arrive early in the morning. Train 1133 is not a good choice as it is very hard to get tickets. K695 is the best choice to travel from Beijing to Datong. If this one is not available, train number 2603 is just as good. Note that, when booking train number 2603, the train leaves after midnight so the date is actually one day later. These two trains that we recommend both depart from the Beijing railway station. If you wish to travel during day time, K615 is a good option

Train number 2603 is slightly cheaper than train K695. Here are the prices for K695:

Soft sleepers – ¥152.5 (upper) – ¥158.5 (lower)
Hard sleepers – ¥99.5 (upper) – ¥104.5 (middle) – ¥107.5 (lower)
